 – Sink or Swim (BBC 1980-82 – three seasons) now on DVD

Sink or Swim was a BBC TV sitcom from the early 80s. It starred Peter Davison as Brian Webber. He’s moved to London from the north to make his way in the world. He’s studying so he can pass his exams and go to University. His girlfriend, Sonia (Sara Corper), is a very serious minded young woman who is passionate about vegetarianism and ecology. When Brian’s younger brother, Steve (Robert Glenister), arrives in London looking for somewhere to stay, his lazy, cynical, noisy “Northern lout” attitude disrupts Brian’s already messy life.

Sink or Swim was filmed in Bristol which doubledfor London.It ran for three series between December 1980 and October 1982 and was written by Alex Shearer. Production of the sitcom overlapped the first two years of Davison also starring as the Fifth Doctor in Doctor Who, which imposed constraints on the recording schedules. Now on DVD.


  • Quarry (Cinemax – 8 eps)

Quarry is an American 8 part crime drama television series by Cinemax, based on the novels of Max Allan Collins. The series was created for television by Graham Gordy and Michael D. Fuller and was directed by Greg Yaitanes. The series is set in Memphis and premiered on Cinemax on September 9, 2016.

Quarry is the story of Mac Conway, a Marine who returns home to Memphis from Vietnam in 1972 and finds himself shunned by those he loves and demonized by the public. As he struggles to cope with his experiences at war, Conway is drawn into a network of killing and corruption that spans the length of the Mississippi River.
