Goal – 1966 World Cup Film

From the opening stop start sequence, this film was a total leap forward from the previous World Cup films. The direction was sharp, but the highlight is the superb script by Brian Glanville. A superb journalist and columnist, his script was succinct, staccato and to the point. No sentimentality or kid narrative, his words were about the football and the footballers. The first film in colour, it deserves a blu ray release.
