Denmark Home 2010 – World cup shirt
Up for review this week is the Denmark Home shirt of 2010. This was the Home shirt worn by the team in the 2010 South African World Cup.
The shirt is the classic red colour and is manufactured by Adidas. I first saw the shirt whilst watching the world cup and fell in love with it. Its original design made this a shirt a must have for my collection.
Underneath the neck of the shirt is the adidas logo. to the right side is the classic Denmark Football Association Crest. Over the years, it has stayed the course and remained the same in design. It reads the DBU – Dansk Boldspil Union 1889. The same words can be found on the back of the shirt below the collar written in gold.
The front design is the most mystifying of the whole shirt and the main reason i love it so much. It can only be described as leftover paddles from the Atari game Pong, moving and dispersing as if dropped from right to left.
on the front is the number and it is recipricated on the back of the shirt, none other than 8 worn by Jesper Gronkjear.
Denmark finished 3rd in the group stage of teh 2010 world cup. it opened proceedings with a 2-0 loss to the Netherlands in Johannesburg, before winning a tight affair 2-1 against Cameroon in Durban, before eventually losing 3-1 suprisingly to Japan in Rustenburg and in doing so, sealing it’s fate as far as the group stage was concerned.
Players of interest from that Squad include hpusehold names such as Goal keeper ThomasSorensen, Liverpool stalwart Daniel Agger, Milan midfielder Christian Poulsen, Wolfsburgs Nicklas Bendter, Formaer charlton player Dennis Rommedahl, necwastle one time striker Jon Dahl Tomasson and one time chelsea player Jesper Gronkjaer. Evergreen coach Morten Olsen was the Manager and spent a whopping 15 years at the help between 2000 – 2015, post stints at Brondby, Koln and Ajax
